Inmetro has published Public Consultation No. 33, dated November 14, 2025, proposing amendments to Ordinance No. 89/2022, which establishes the Technical Quality Regulation (RTQ) and the Conformity Assessment Requirements (RAC) for Gas Water Heaters.

Main proposed changes:
• Evaluation of electrical safety in accordance with IEC 60335-1:2016 (Ed. 5.2) and IEC 60335-2-102:2017 (Ed. 2.0) – Applicable to appliances that operate with electrical current and are connected to an external power source.
• Revision and inclusion of criteria for the evaluation and classification of product families for instantaneous and storage-type gas water heaters.
• Requirement for routine testing based on the insulation class of the appliance.
• Modification of the definitions related to auditing and sampling.
• Revision of the PET and the certificate of conformity.
