NCC NEWS | Important Notice: Compliance with the Conformity Identification Seal – Inmetro Ordinance No. 148/2022 (Household Appliances)

Dear Customers,

Inmetro Ordinance No. 148, dated May 2, 2022, which establishes requirements for household appliances, sets deadlines for compliance with the Conformity Identification Seal, as outlined in Annex II. Please be informed that some of these deadlines have already expired or are currently in effect, as detailed below:

  • Compliance of the Seal on Packaging: The 36-month period for manufacturers and importers of household appliances to adjust packaging to the layout and conditions of the Conformity Identification Seal expired on May 2, 2025. Therefore, all household appliance packaging must comply with Annex II of the Ordinance as of that date.
  • Compliance of the Seal on the Product: Certified families of household appliances have until May 2, 2027 (60 months from the Ordinance’s effective date) to adopt the Conformity Identification Seal directly on the product, in accordance with the specified conditions and layout.
  • Adjustment of Model 5 Certificates: Certificates issued under Inmetro Ordinance No. 328/2011 must be updated to comply with the provisions of Annex I of Ordinance No. 148/2022 by December 31, 2025. This includes ensuring compliance with the versions of the standards specified in Annex I of the Ordinance.

We recommend reviewing the compliance of your household appliances and their packaging with the requirements of Ordinance No. 148/2022, paying special attention to the packaging update, as its deadline has already passed. The NCC Team is available to clarify any questions and provide support during this compliance process.
