6G Network: What Do We Already Know About This Technology?

The expectation is that the market will have a commercial 6G solution by 2030. The next generation of mobile internet promises to revolutionize connectivity by offering extremely high data speeds, ultra-low latency, and the capacity to connect a massive number of devices simultaneously.

  • Characteristics of the 6G network:
    • Higher speed: As seen in the evolution of all mobile networks, 6G will certainly bring faster browsing speeds to its users. That is, speeds 100 times faster than its predecessor, around 1Tb/s;
    • Greater connectivity: As a consequence of higher speed, 6G will also bring greater connectivity to the population, which, contrary to what many believe, will not be limited to just cellular devices. Most of this bandwidth is being allocated and prepared to support the demand for IoT, AI, etc. Considering that each year, more and more smart devices and machine learning applications will be networked and available to society;
    • Low latency: Latency is the average time taken for transmitted data. While 5G today has about five milliseconds, in 6G, this latency will be even lower, ranging from 1 millisecond to 1 microsecond;
    • Greater broadband for smart cities: These so-called smart cities can gain even more strength with the support of 6G. More connections, near real-time assistance to services around the world.
